← AppearanceAppearance’s agent
Last updated: September 2026
Appearance Ltd builds Appearance, where people see themselves in real clothes, hair and products before they buy. Appearance’s agent is the part that visits shops for a member.
When it visits a website
- When an Appearance member asks it to find something in a shop, or to look at a page they sent, it opens that shop’s own search or that page, once.
- When a member asks it to keep an eye on something (new things in a shop, or a product’s price or stock), it looks at that page at most once a day, for up to 30 days.
- It reads what the page offers (product names, prices and pictures) so it can show the member themselves in them, and links back to the shop’s own page.
What it does not do
- It does not crawl or index websites, or follow links on its own.
- It does not use what it reads to train models.
- It does not buy anything, or sign in anywhere except where a member signs in themselves.
- It does not solve CAPTCHAs.
How it identifies itself
It browses in a standard Chromium browser hosted by Browserbase, and signs its requests with Web Bot Auth (HTTP Message Signatures). The Signature-Agent header points to Appearance’s key directory:
